My neighbor and I are going to the Dragon soon. Any ideas from anyone about places to stay. We are thinking of renting a cabin. Any must sees? This is our first trip.

Go see the other surrounding roads in the area. The dragon is overrated and is drawing alot of heat these days.

This is the best place in town!!! Rates are reasonable , and the big plus is that each room has there own lockable garage (fits two bikes).

As for rockertom's comment...The Dragon is the Dragon BOTTOMLINE!!! It is a road that people from all of the world know about and want to ride. It has more turns then the worlds largest racetrack which is located in Germany called the Nurburgring. It is a one hell of 11 miles!!!:evilgrin[1]:
Yes there are great other roads out there as well:thumb:

The Dragon is drawing a ton of attention latley. Check out the first page of www.tailofthedragon.com and the highlights section of www.killboy.com
When we went, we stayed in Gatlinburg and hit everything between there and the gap. We rented a cabin that had a 2-car garage. There are great roads all over the place up there.
I'm planning on making a trip up in October so hopefully Johhny Law will be bored by then and leave me alone :burnout:
If you stay in Gatlinburg, there is an awesome tobacco shop up on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the "mall" in town. Got some pipes there for great prices, very knowledgeable; if thats your thing lol.
(For smoking pipe tobacco lol, not talking about bongs haha)

I travel to that area several times every year. The best accomodations that I have found yet are at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge in Steccoa N.C. they are just off the intersection of 28 and 143 just minutes away from some of the best riding in the area, including deals gap(stay away from the gap on the weekends to much traffic and LEO activity) Semi private cabins are only $65 per night(you share a bathroom with the cabin next to you) They offer breakfast and dinner and have a nice lodge with a giant front projection tv and pool tables.Every night they have a fire out back of the lodge by the creek where people sit and talk. They are in a dry county so if you intend to partake in any liquid libations you will have to import them.
Two wheels I have heard is also nice but I've never stayed there.

I wouldn't be in such a hurry to get up there. TN State Troopers are hot and heavy as you probably read from the links. I was there last weekend and there was 11 Troopers on the Dragon plus 3 Sherriff's down along the river. The women's Sportbike Rally is in a couple weeks and its going to be tons worse. If I were you, I'd wait until Mid September to head that way. (PS, it's also hot as hell up here these days. temps and index in triple digits)
As for places to stay, there's tons of places. Do you want a room, cabin, do you need a garage, do you want A/C? Start to answer some of those and your choices will be narrowed down a bit.
For the best bang for your buck I would suggest looking for a place in Murphy or Andrews NC. There's a couple hotels there, plenty of restaurants to eat at. The big plus about staying around there is; you are 30 mins from the dragon and skyway. You are also 45 mins from Suches, GA. You would also be 25-30 mins from some great roads in SE TN. Basically you'd be right in the middle of it all.
If you've never been and you'd like a tour guide hit me up kbk7328@yahoo.com I spend most weekends up that way. I'd be happy to show you some of the less traveled.
